The animals that live in the forest here really love it if we bring them salt and minerals. Salt is really hard to come by in the winter time and the only natural source is to be found under the bark of some trees. To access this is very time consuming and energy inefficient for them, so you can imagine the elk and reindeer’s delight when they come across a huge hanging salt lick full of all their deepest cravings. Healthier animals means healthier offspring and eventually possibly better quality meat on the hunter`s plate—it’s a case of give a little, take a little!
